1. What can I use for my username?
Your username can be a mix of any letter characters from any language, numbers, spaces and underscores. It must begin with a letter and end with either a letter or number. Usernames must also be between 2 and 25 (inclusive) characters long. For example, valid usernames include: JohnDoe55, Juan Pérez, Иван Иванов, and 張三. Offensive usernames may be removed at the discretion the site administrators.
2. What can I use for my password?
Your password can be any mix of any latin characters (a, b, c, etc), numbers, dashes (-), and space. It must also be between 5 and 25 (inclusive) characters. For example, valid passwords could include: "Password 12345", "CorrectHorseBatteryStaple", and "WxN-7Qr-9Tu-Kl5". To ensure your password is as safe as possible, we recommend that you use a long password that combines all of the allowed character types.
3. Why do you need my email address?
We need your email address in order to validate your account. After that, we only contact you using your email address if you choose that option in your settings. We will never share your email address with anyone else.
4. Why haven't I received my sign-up email?
Sometimes these emails can take a few minutes to come through, so please be patient! Validation emails can also easily get put into your junk folder, so it might be worth checking there. If you are sure you still haven't received your validation email, we can try and send you another.
1. Why does my profile ask for so many details?
We want to help you to create a fun profile and offer the option to add details you may want. None of these details are required in order to complete a profile and you can enter as many or as few as you like. They will only be as visible as you choose them to be in your privacy settings and if you choose to remove these details they will be permanently removed from our database. We also never share your personal infomration with third parties.
2. Can I upload a profile picture?
Of course! If you visit your profile settings you can upload one now. Images must be one of the following types: .gif, .jpg, .png. or .tiff, and no larger than 5MB in size. Offensive images will be removed by the site administrators.
3. Can I delete my profile picture?
Yes! If you visit your profile settings there is an option that allows you to delete your current profile picture. This will delete it permanently and we will not retain a copy of your image.
4. How can I view my profile?
You can view your profile by clicking on your username at the top of your homepage.
5. Who can see my profile?
By default, your profile is visible to everyone though you can modify that to either only friends or friends of friends in your visibility settings.
1. What happens if I add someone as a friend?
When you click to add someone as a friend, that person will receive a friend request. In that request they'll see your username, as well as your picture and real name if you have set those in the your profile settings. If that user accepts your request you are added to each other's friend lists and you will receive a notification to let you know. If you add someone that you unfriended in the last 5 minutes, you can add them again without having to send the request and waiting for it to be accepted.
2. What happens if someone adds me as a friend?
When someone wants to add you as a friend you will receive a friend request. In that request you can see their username, as well as their picture and real name if they have set those. If you click to accept their friend request, you are added to each other's friend lists and they will receive a notification to let them know. If you don't confirm the user as a friend immediately, you are able to go back to your requests and add them later.
3. What can I do if I send someone a friend request by mistake?
You can manage your sent requests on your friend request page and cancel them there. If the user has already accepted the request you can remove them from your friend lists.
4. What happens if I unfriend someone?
There are no notifications if you unfriend one of your friends. If you unfriend someone but change your mind, you have 5 minutes to add them again without having to wait for them to confirm the request.
5. Is it possible to block a user?
If you want to block a user, you must go to their profile and click the Block User button.
6. What happens when I block a user?
If you choose to block a user, you will simply disappear from each other's lists. No notifications are sent to the user being blocked. You will no longer be able to message each other or view each other's profiles.
7. What can a blocked user see?
A blocked user will not be able to see your profile or your account. You will not be able to message each other, and if you appear in group chats together, your messages will be hidden from each other.
8. What happens when I unblock a user?
No notifications are sent to the user if you choose to unblock them. If you were friends with each other before you added them to your blocked list, they will continue to be their friend now.
1. How do I start a message?
If you go to your messages page there will be buttons to message a user or, if you have permission, a group. Clicking on those buttons will take you to a list of users or groups that you may message. To message multiple users that aren't in a group, start a message with one of the users and click the button on the right to add users to the group message.
2. If a user joins a group will they be able to see older group messages?
No, when a user joins a group they are only able to see group messages sent after the point that they joined.
3. If I add a user to a message group can they see previous messages?
No, when a user joins a message group they are only able to see messages sent after the point that they joined.
4. What happens in a group message if there is someone I've blocked?
Blocked users will not receive any messages or actions that are from the user (or quote the user) that they are blocked by. Blocking users will also not receive any messages or actions that are from the user (or quote the user) that they have blocked. Only the blocking user will receieve a warning that the group message contains at least one user that they have blocked.
5. How do I quote a message?
Click on a message in the message history to include it as a quote. There is a remove button in the quote if you change your mind.

2. What's a group's superadministrator?
The superadministrator is the one who created the group. They are responsible for group settings and profile, as well as letting other users join the group.
3. Can I make someone else the group superadministrator?
Yes but in doing so you will no longer be the superadministrator. It will no longer be 'your group'.
4. What's the difference between a group's superadministrator and administrator?
The superadministrator can delegate administrator tasks to other administrators using various group settings options.
5. What's the difference between ignoring and rejecting a user's request to join my group?
Ignoring means you aren't letting them in to your group at the moment. Rejecting means they will not be able to join unless the superadministrator of the group allows it.
6. What happens to requests if I make my group open to everyone?
If you change your group to open to everyone, all currently open user request are accepted. Rejected requests are removed but those users would then be able to join your group as normal.
7. What happens to requests if I make my group closed to everyone?
If you change your group to closed to everyone, any requests to join the group are be removed. Users would then only be able to join your group if you have set a group password.
8. I've rejected a request to join my group. Why can I still see an accept option?
If you are the superadministrator you will always have the option to accept a user, even if you or an administrator reject the request. By keeping the request open you can change your mind if you want, and the user will not be able to spam you with repeated requests.
9. If I leave a group, who can tell?
While no alerts are sent to anyone when you leave a group, you will no longer appear in the list of group members.
10. Why can't I leave a group?
You can leave any group except those for which you are superadministrator. You will have to change your group's superadministrator before you can leave.
1. Who can see my news items?
By default, your news is visible to only your friends but this setting can be changed in your visibility settings to include their friends too. Blocked users will not be able to see any of your news items.
2. If I comment or react to an item of news, who can see it?
If you comment or react to a news item, it will be subject to the visibility settings of the user whose news it is. By default it will be the owner's friends, but it may include their friends too.
3. Can I edit comments on news items?
You may edit your comments within 5 minutes of submitted the comment by clicking on the Edit button on the comment.
4. Who can delete my comments on news items?
Your comments can be removed by either you or the user on whose news you have commented. This may be done at any time and will remove any specific replies to that comment.
